Let's avoid chain stores and chain restaurants and support local "Ma and Pa Shops." The hole-in-the-wall restaurants and local hot spots are the best experiences. Small coffee shops have the best pastries and coffee. Share what you have found.

If you are ever visiting Connecticut and looking for some good eats, you have to check out the ORIGINAL Frank Pepe Pizza located in New Haven.

If you are ever visiting St Louis these are some must stop places to eat:
Pappys Smokehouse. Featured on Man vs Food with Adam, this place has the best home cooking meals if you know what I mean. Cornbread, smoked meat of all sorts, potato salad etc. The key here is that you have to get there early before the food runs out. The food ran out the first time I went. If you complete the 10lb food challenge you get on the wall and a T-shirt. Located: 3106 Olive St, St. Louis, MO 63103
For Italian food Massas located 4120 N Lindbergh Blvd, Hazelwood, MO 63044. This is a little hole in the wall that only opens for dinner, but I have never had better Fettuccine Alfredo in my life and its cheap as all pasta dishes should be.
For good local brew and pizza is Deweys Pizza located in University City
559 North and South Road St. Louis, MO 63130. This is a chain but has great brews and its located in a cool town.
Llywelyn's Pub is located towards old town St Charles just over the bridge. Its an Irish pub and right near the Mississippi River. Located 4747 McPherson Ave, St. Louis, MO 63108.
